American students seem to be the latest victims of the slowing-down economy and loan money is drying up. American students who need student loans to pay for college are beginning to have difficulty accessing funds. If there is a question why President Barack Obama has been encouraging students to obtain college or university, or why adults can return to school, the economy is one of the answers to this question. The quality of life that kids grew up knowing seems to have disappeared. The dream of going to college, get a good job, and buying a house has become more difficult to make a reality.
Although the 2011 survey conducted by the Xavier University reports that the majority of Americans say they have achieved the American Dream in person, two-thirds believe the country is steadily declining, and three-quarters believe that it will be difficult for their children and grandchildren to follow in their footsteps. The role that education should play in the lives of people is to educate them to be aware of individuals to think critically, not passively accept the information, but question the knowledge that is being taught to them. We all agree that the U.S. economy is bad right now, and for those in the workplace, these uncertain times bring a lot of stress and anxiety in their lives.
The current economic crisis has changed their college choices. In many cities, unemployment is more than 7 percent, and some parents cannot afford colleges the students are choosing as their first choice. It was reported that the state agency has suspended the loan program that works for students. This affects the 100 universities and colleges, and there are fears that other agencies and universities will follow the same path. Global world is increasingly concerned about the environment and climate change, which affect the ever increasing population and development and settlement patterns.
The point is that there is a direct relationship between the U.S. and the global economy. More jobs moving abroad and not return. More employers keep their businesses with fewer employees. This argument may seem intuitive-cons now, when the unemployment rate remains high, but the U.S. economy will eventually recover this balance, and the U.S. educational system is not sufficient to prepare students for highly skilled jobs that high-tech companies require. In a just and egalitarian society, the education systems we have discussed has been implemented decades ago. In a hierarchical society like the U.S., there is always someone at the bottom of the totem.
It seems that universities are increasingly aware that students are a valuable asset. For some parents, it will mean sending their children to community colleges for two years. The time to start working on your future is NOW – better schools and better degrees offer a better future. You can succeed, but you should start now – and believe in yourself.
